See, Diego is a master “parrilla” (which i think means grill) man. He set before us about 10 different kinds of meat, and had them grilled in the traditional Argentine manor. Salad, rice, tomatoes, pork, steak, livers….quite a feast. I will post some pictures later on my facebook page. Sorry, no link here.. i still gotta re-remember how to do all of that.

for now, you get my thoughts. have a great day.

I guess most of my blogging time has been taken up w/ newer technologies like facebook and twitter. Well, facebook is almost passe, and I can’t afford the unlimited texting to make myself keep up w/ twitter. So that makes me a “dinosaur.” Or at least that’s what my kids say. Hope everyone is well, and I’ll check in later.

BUT, there was always a beginning (called ‘set up’), and an ending (called “the strike”).

Me thinks my brain has to get used to a different way of working. Guess it’s called growing up.

I must give credit to my friend and collegue, Jim Zangmeister, for this insightful word picture.

Imagine that you are driving across the country, at top speed, and you have little time for error. As you speed across the interstate, you notice that your gas gauge is getting lower and lower, approaching the dreaded “E” for empty. But, instead of stopping and re-fueling, you say to yourself:
“I’m too busy and too late to stop for gas! I gotta keep on going!!!”

We all can see the outcome of this little story, yet in our lives, we do this exact thing. Live faster, work harder, get more in a day. When do we stop to refuel? Edward M. Hallowell, in an editoral for the Los Angeles Times notes, “We think if we go fast enough, we’ll be able to create time when we won’t have to be busy. A seductive idea, but delusional. The key is to slow down and thrive today…”

As followers of Jesus Christ, we must remember to “be still and know that He is God.”

Sadly, I’ve been falling under “blog conviction”, which is when you haven’t posted for over a month, and have no good excuse. And, all of your other web friends are keeping up, so why can’t you?

So, here’s to guys like Steve Knight, Nick Ciske, and Bob Souer, who, without manipulation or guilt, have helped me to break thru my blog conviction, and post now.

There you have it. Don’t wait for the film at 11.

My struggle is this: is this the same in God’s kingdom? The televangelist types who always appear to have it together; these folks say nothing to me. I’ve met followers of Christ who seem to be the most self effacing, humble persons alive. They are the ones that I am drawn to.
The balance seems to lie in who do you place your trust in? If your trust is in God, you have no reason to boast about yourself. If it’s in yourself, then maybe you do have to act like you’re in charge.

I’d rather trust in God…. Better track record, if you know what I mean.

Christmas greetings to all. In an age of political correctness, I’d like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas, and Blessed New Year.

My family and I just returned from Lynchburg, Virginia, after seeing the 35th Living Christmas Tree at Thomas Road Baptist Church. As a Liberty University Alumn, it was an enjoyable time to relive memories, and enjoy old friends. The Midi Lite lighting by Jon Daggett was outstanding, as usual. I remember when Jon used to light up his house; now, he manufactures a great product.

I’ll reserve my comments for the program itself. The opening four numbers were fantastic; major kudos to the choreographer for making a full stage of actors and dancers move seamlessly.

A new years resolution for me (getting started earlier) is to update this page more. I’m still getting used to the idea of the whole world wide web viewing my thoughts. Bear with me folks….
